Rempert This computer is an absolute great price for what it offers, and it delivers. I am a photographer who needed to upgrade to a computer with a faster processor and one that could handle the workload I put on it with CS4, and this one is great. Compared to my old laptop, this one zips right through loading enormous raw images and and processing in photoshop with ease. I spent a while looking to find a computer that offered everything this one does in a price range I could afford and also had a bigger screen size. My old laptop was a 17", so this one was a little bit of a downgrade in regards to screen size, but its still good enough and an acceptable trade off for the specs of the computer itself. I also do a bit of gaming, WOW particularly, and it runs better than my husband's computer in regards to graphics..which he isn't necessarily too happy with. :) As for two other reviews about some negative aspects of the laptop: One reviewer mentioned the DVD drive was extremely noisy. It is a little loud, I will attest to that, but I wouldn't say anywhere near as loud as I took from their review. I did not find it overly disturbing or distracting, and I could certainly hear the sound of the music or movie I was playing over it. Another reviewer mentioned how he hated the computer because of the keyboard. I think the keyboard is great. I have no trouble feeling which key is which. Its bigger than normal though, or maybe, just the letter/numbers on each key are bigger than normal. I felt like I had ordered something designed for an older person or someone who may not be able to see well at first glance because of the size of the letters. The "L" is approx. 4-5cm long. So that was something I sort of laughed about at first, but now I don't notice it at all. I am picky about how my 'keyboard' feels, and normally would go to store and test out all the laptops, and if the keystroke didn't feel good to me, I would reconsider a purchase of any particular laptop. But I really like this keyboard, and I like the back-lighting, which I didn't have previously. Overall, I think this computer is a steal what what you are getting. 32 of 36 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful Laptop By R. McElveen I have had this laptop for over a month, and I absolutely love it. It is a replacement for my Dell Laptop that has decided to move onto greener pastures. This is my first Toshiba, and I use computers for work all day. This is a wonderful laptop it has plenty of power thanks to the i7 Intel Processor, which was the main selling point for me. I needed a laptop that would hold up and be able to handle the Adobe products (Dreamweaver and Photoshop) that I use regularly and so far no issues at all. The speakers are very good, considering this is a laptop and the speakers are built in. I LOVE Windows 7 it is SOOOOO much better than Vista! The Webcam is wonderful and does a very good job as well. Overall, considering this is a budget priced laptop, when you factor in the i7 chip, 500GB HD, and 4GB DDR3 RAM. I am very pleased and I without any reservation recommend this product and I would purchase it again if I had to do it over. 40 of 46 people found the following review helpful. Awesome laptop. A must have. By Paul M. Zahorosky All right... this may take a while. Let me start by saying I have abstained from owning a laptop computer my entire life and have strictly been using and building desktop PCs. For the past year and a half I have been going to school for graphic design. Now I spend so much time in front of a computer that I just had to be able to separate myself from my desk. Granted, being a graphic designer, I get a lot of flak for not purchasing a MacBook, but I just couldn't fathom the inflated price for a machine with lower performance (why can't I get a MacBook with a Quad
Toshiba REGZA 32HL67U 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV
Toshiba 32HL67 32" Regza LCD HDTV
Amazon Sales Rank: #43847 in Home Theater Color: Black Brand: Toshiba Model: 32HL67U Dimensions: 23.32" h x 31.52" w x 11.23" l, 43.00 pounds Display size: 32 ATSC/NTSC & QAM Digital Television Tuners CineSpeed Panel with Response Time of less than 8ms Panel Resolution - 1366 x 768 PixelPure Hi-Bit12-Bit Digital Video Processing Digital Noise Reduction
Toshiba's Regza line of TVs marry state-of-the-art technology to hip design. One feature that sets them apart is PixelPure 14-bit digital video processing, which creates more than 4,000 levels of color gradations for a smooth, natural-looking picture without posterization or image banding. Another benefit is a fast response time. Response time is the interval an LCD screen takes to from its darkest color to its lightest color and back again, measured in milliseconds (ms). This screen's response time is 8 ms, which is at the faster and better end of the spectrum. This screen is likely to display cleaner, sharper images during high-action scenes and with fewer image artifacts than other screens in its class. This technology is housed in a black gloss cabinetry that is sure to fit well with most any decor. The 32HL67 has a panel resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. This qualifies it as 720 progressive-line HDTV, which is a noticeably better picture than standard definition sets, but not as detailed as the 1080 HD sets available. Its 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio delivers most movies the way they were meant to be seen in the theater, without back bars wasting the top and bottom of the screen. The Value of LCD TVs Aside from their obvious aesthetic value, LCD TVs are much more practical in the home than CRT (tube-style) televisions. They take up a smaller footprint, and thus use up less floor space in the room. Also, LCD TVs are lighter and easier to move around when cleaning or redecorating. The 32HL67 is only 4.65 inches deep and weighs less than 35 pounds. Best of all, LCD screens use less power than CRTs and plasma screens. Connections The set has a built-in digital television tuner, so out of the box it can receive digital broadcast ATSC signals and QAM signals used by most digital cable providers. It also has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner, so it can also accept traditional analog signals. It can also make these connections to your audio and video components: HDMI inputs: 3 ColorStream HD component video inputs: 2 PC monitor input: 1 VGA 15 Pin D-sub S-video input: 1 A/V inputs: 2 Audio The unit's SoundStrip speaker system hides the unit's speakers in a thin strip bordering the screen. They're powerful enough to deliver big stereo sound, but they don't add significantly to the size of the set. Toshiba's StableSound feature maintains television volume within a preset range regardless of the source signal. This is an extremely useful feature when transitioning between a quiet television program and a very loud commercial advertisement or when changing channels. SRS WOW, a combination of SRS 3D, TruBass, and Focus sound-expanding systems, create a 3-D sound field with improved bass response over standard TV audio and create directed, three-dimensional audio sweet spot for maximum enjoyment. The TV also has optical digital output for connecting to your audio system. 32-inch wide screen A general rule of thumb for selecting the right size television screen is that the screen width--not its 32-inch diagonal measurement--should be between three and five times the optimum viewing distance, such as the distance from the TV screen to where your eyes are while sitting on the couch. Less than that and you may be distracted by the scan lines of the picture. More than that, and you may lose the detail of your TV. Based on this guide, the 32HL67 is ideal for viewing distances of seven to 12 feet. What's in the Box 32HL67, stand, 4-item universal remote, stand, warranty and product manuals.

Bridges I just purchased this TV after looking at a wide range of TVs to go with my dual-tuner TiVo Series 3 player and an older progressive scan Toshiba DVD player, and I have to say that I couldn't be happier with my selection. I let the TV do the upconvert from 480i from the TiVo and the result looks quite acceptable (assuming you're not 3 feet away), and the HD detail on HD channels is spectacular. The Toshiba has a wide range of picture boxing settings to take care of properly framing the upconverted 480p DVD signal, and a lot of color settings so that tuning the color with Avia-derived settings I found on the internet helped as well. I have my own Avia disc on order to fine-tune the picture myself, as well. The main products I was comparing against were all other 720p 32" TVs. 1080p resolution seemed silly to pay for in this size, since you can't see it, though the brands that put out 32" 1080p TVs (e.g. Sharp) seemed to have better video processors in the 1080p models and skimp a bit in the 720p models. Specifically, I compared against the Sony Bravia 2010 S-Series (not the XDR2), Sharp Aquos 32D43U, and the Samsung 3253, as well as the Olevia 532/332s as a bargin alternative. The Olevia was by far the least expensive, but its picture quality seemed comparatively much worse, not to mention external styling. In the store I looked, the Sony and Toshiba were solid across the board, the Sharp had the best flesh tones (color setting issues with other TVs?), and the Samsung the best contrast for dark areas (e.g. air contrails behind a slow-motion spinning baseball). Given that the Toshiba was about $150 cheaper than the alternatives at the time, I opted for it and couldn't be happier. 67 of 70 people found the following review helpful. Toshiba TV's - Simply perfect By G. CALICO If you are looking for a LCD HD TV but don't know where to start, look to Toshiba first. I read in a leading consumer magazine that Toshiba spends more money (on an average of 5 to 1) on research and development than any of it's other competitors (Example: Sony, Toshiba, JVC, Panasonic, etc....) and the REGZA is a result of that research. After a very detailed 2-3 months worth of research, I decided on the 32HL67. Toshiba electronic products (especially TV's & DVD players) have always performed very well for me. I will be utilizing this TV in my bedroom and it's a good thing that I am. This television is completely amazing and is by far the best value for a very good HDTV for the bedroom. The design is truly a beautiful piece of electronics. It has a sleek curve stand with a piano black frame finish. The picture and the set-up right out of the box was brilliant. I utilize DIRECTV HD and the colors and picture quality is simply brilliant. The HD programming is very sharp with a very clear and very distinctive display. The native resolution of this unit is 720p, but this HDTV will display all formats 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p. However, it only receives 1080p when connected via a HDMI port. This TV comes with 3 HDMI inputs, plus a input port for a computer and two HD color components inputs. The Toshiba is very easy to setup with its user friendly onscreen menus. All the speakers are located along the bottom of the screen, therefore helping to reduce the total width of the unit. I only had approximately 33" to fit a TV into and this one fit perfectly. The DIRECTV gentlemen installing my HD satellite dish and setting up the HD receiver commented that the fit looked nearly perfect to him. This LCD is very thin and fairly lightweight (approximately 40 pounds). Easily handled by one person. The mount for the Toshiba 32HL67 was very easy to attach to the bottom of the unit, which is how I use mine. I'm sure this TV would be just as easy to use as a wall mount unit by installing the mount onto the rear of this unit. Very impressed 113 of

Xross Media Bar (XMB) On-Screen Menu System Xross Media Bar is Sony’s Emmy Award2 winning on-screen navigation that provides quick access to various set up functions and features. For instance selecting different types of media is made fun and easy by scrolling horizontally across icons until you find the type of media you are looking for. After selecting the media type, a list of its content appears as vertical thumbnails. Key set up menus and features work the same way. The main benefit of the XMB is that users can navigate through on-screen menus without taking their eyes off of their TV. DMe Compatibility DMex compatibility allows the connection and operation of a whole new category of products that is being developed by Sony (sold separately). The first of these products is the optional BRAVIA Internet Video Link module. BRAVIA Theatre Sync BRAVIA Theatre Sync reduces the hassle and time consuming job of powering up, changing the signal routing, and adjusting other functions to the simple push of one button. All you need to do is to connect BRAVIA Theatre Sync capable products to each other via one HDMI cable. The rest is easy. For instance, the One Push Play function activates by touching the play button on the remote and BRAVIA Theatre Sync takes over from there. The BRAVIA Home Theatre System and TV turn on. The DVD input on the BRAVIA Theatre system and TV activates. The TV mutes. And finally the DVD plays. There are two other BRAVIA Theatre Sync functions - One-Push Theatre Settings, which provides optimal picture and sound settings for movies and One-Push System Shut Down for turning off the entire home entertainment system. BRAVIA Internet Video Link The first DMex product to be introduced to the market is the DMX-NV1 BRAVIA Internet Video Link module (sold separately). BIVL, as it is affectionately called, can stream available Internet video from select content providers directly to your TV with a broadband connection3 without the need for a PC. S-Force Front Surround S-Force Front Surround is a virtual surround sound experience made possible using just two front speakers in select BRAVIA models. To accomplish this, Sony spent several years studying how our ears work. By understanding exactly how we recognize the origin, direction, volume and timing differences in sound right and left ear, Sony was able to create complex audio processing that delivers dynamic virtual surround sound without the need to bounce sound off walls and back to the listener. HDMI and PC Connectivity Designed for maximum versatility, Sony’s BRAVIA S-Series Digital LCD TV line is equipped with a comprehensive range of input interfaces. The HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. HDMI technology supports enhanced or High Definition video, together with multi-channel digital audio to provide matchless image and sound reproduction. The HDMI and PC inputs (HD-15-pin) offer easy connection to your PC, allowing you to use your high resolution BRAVIA S-Series Digital TV as a computer monitor. Light Sensor-2 Intelligently adjusts the screen brightness to match the ambient light in a room, ensuring a comfortable viewing experience. In a dim room for example the screen automatically reduces brightness making it much more comfortable for viewing. Freeze Function Sony’s Freeze Function is a useful function that allows you to temporarily freeze the picture in a separate screen while the programming continues to display. This comes in handy when you want to copy a recipe, phone number, etc. that flashes too quickly across your screen. Simply touch the "Freeze" button on the remote control and copy the details down at your convenience.

By Twiddles42 No stupid "Dynamic contrast ratio: 8000:1" gimmicks that merely flicker the backlight when the set's AI decides it ought to be, which is disconcerting and not to mention misleading in terms of real display quality... Just a true, real contrast ratio that allows numerous shadow and hue detail that you're not going to see so clearly in any competitor's 32" set. No washed out or dull colors, either - this Sony is a worthy replacement for dead-end, electricity guzzling, heat generating CRT technology. And I looked at 6 brands, looking at every nuance, black level, color saturation, sharpness, detail, features, menu functions, et cetera, noting all TVs were at out-of-box conditions. I'd love to namedrop the worst ones, but that's a no-no... Here's a hint - those models are "inexpensive for their size". :) Sony costs more, yes, but the difference in visual quality is formidable - worth every penny. Detail is exceptional, and sharp. Other models may not be as bright, may give edges jagged lines, colors may be flat, and so on... If you are a videophile, this is THE set to get. Every setting under the sun can be changed (brightness, 'picture' (contrast), tint, et cetera). And this monitor also, much to my surprise and delight, includes filters to make DVDs (MPEG2) and broadcast signals look less grainy/noisy and sharper. You bet I'm a happy couch potato. Casual viewers would probably be satisfied with any competing model, but why? As with lower quality screen technology, the hardware quality is bound to be lower as well. You do get what you pay for. If you read up on competing models where people say "it broke after 1.5 years", you'll see a pattern forming... And if you looked at the competing model next to the Sony, you'd be tempted to buy the Sony anyway. Even if the cost difference was a mere $150. I also apologizing for sounding like a shill for Sony. I'm not. One small addendum (06/30/07): The stores' labels say it's 1600:1, the sticker on the left side of the monitor claims 8000:1. This TV set does alter the backlight's brightness - solely on the level of ambient light in the room, not the incoming signal. Either way, I've still had no negative issues with visual quality on DVD playback, NTSC TV, HD broadcast, or PC display (if your computer cannot handle 1366x768, try 1280x720 if possible.) 71 of 71 people found the following review helpful. Simply the Best in Every Way! By Mighty Mac We're in the "senior citizen" class and were looking to replace our 27" Panasonic tube TV (which did serve us well for more than 10 years.) Being in our 70s did not mean I didn't THOROUGHLY check out and compare EVERY high-rated 32" LCD HDTV on the market--at Sears, Circuit City, Wal-Mart and other brick&mortar stores. I searched on-line, read technical reviews, and paid particular attention to what buyers said about the products. The hands-down winner for us (and apparently all accompanying buyer-reviews) is this awesome Sony product. It is in our opinion simply the best in every way. Period. ("Consumers Report" magazine recently also ranked this product best in its category.) [...]Now we enjoy a superb television picture with startling sound clarity. I like it when a plan comes together. 97 of 102 people found the following review helpful. fantastic television! By soulelement I am a first-time buyer of a HD-LCD and just picked this television set up yesterday. Overall I am very pleased with the performance I am seeing. I went through two Samsung television sets: the first being the Samsung LN-S4095D 40" 1080p LCD and the second being the Samsung LNT3253H 32" LCD HDTV (after realizing I needed something smaller). Both models are full of video-tearing and audio-muting issues that Samsung has failed to resolve, so I decided that before any of these problems severely affected me, I would return them before the 30-day

For this much money for a 47" LCD, I expect a lot. The colors were saturated and the blacks were dark, just as you'd expect from the LED backlit set. But the blooming or haloing created by the local dimming is just too much. There aren't enough LEDs in the array. So when white text scrolls on a black background like credits you can see a halo around ever letter or word. Then as they scroll, the LEDs turn on and off accordingly and you can very easily see this "pop" of the LEDS turning off. You then begin to notice the same haloing around faces in dark scenes. Pretty soon it is all you see. You can turn local dimming off, which essentially turns the LEDs into an always on backlight like all CCFL based LCDs. But then you lose the dark blacks benefits, and soon you realize you paid 50% more for a feature that you aren't using anymore and now your set looks about the same as all the others at far less cost. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Impressive By Raja Jaja I've owned this TV for a week now. I haven't experimented with white scrolling text to look for the blooming and I almost don't want to. After working with multimedia encoding and 3D graphics, I've discovered that ignorance is sometimes bliss. Once you notice something, you can't stop yourself from seeing it all the time (like macro blocks from MPEG compression, motion "judder,", etc.). I'll also agree with other reviewers that you really need to play with the advanced menus in order to tune the picture. "Vivid" and "standard" are nice for cartoons and anime but are too over-the-top for anything else. The auto-adjusting setting is a nice idea but in practice is annoying because it pops up a logo to tell you it is adjusting the picture. I was watching one night and every time I turned a table lamp on or off, the picture would adjust (which would be fine if it didn't annoy me with an on-screen logo to tell me about it). This TV is no Samsung (LED). I can definitely tell the difference in the local showroom and the Samsungs are very svelte. But for this price, I don't think you can find anything comparable. The LED backlighting definitely increases the visible contrast; you'll see blacks that you just won't see on a non-LED LCD. I haven't seen the blooming or LED "popping" that other reviewers have mentioned, but even if I turn off the dynamic lighting, the LED still gives me brighter lighting, less heat and (theoretically) longer life and greater reliability. Plus, I get bragging rights for a while. "Check it out; the very latest in big screen HD tech!" Speaking of bragging rights, all of my friends have commented about how wonderful this TV display looks, even people who have bought Samsungs and Bravias in the past year. Considering that I bought this TV at a price that was the same as the non-LED Samsungs, I'm quite happy. All the technical negatives noted about this TV are probably spot on, but for the price, I don't think I could have done nearly as well with any other TV. I bought this TV as sort of a memorial to my brother who died just this past Christmas. He was very into big screen TVs and the latest tech. I think he'd be happy to see his nephew watching Bakugan in HD glory. 16 of 20 people found the following review helpful. Amazing Picture By Robert Rubeck I am not sure why the last reviewer discussed the 47' tv they found for far less, that is true but that's because the other TV's wont produce the picture quality of this TV and this TV blows all normal tv's out of the water. I saw this TV calibrated in the magnolia room at best buy on the wall next to a pioneer pro elite and the picture quality was in my eyes BETTER. I have been waiting to pull the trigger on a new HDTV until I could get more HD content and I am glad I did. As one of the reviewers posted

Immerse yourself in outstanding color reproduction and 1080p picture quality with the KDL-40V3000 LCD Flat Panel HDTV. BRAVIA V-Series televisions are where Full HD 1080 starts. Performance functions like Live Color Creation and the 10-bit panel display assure picture quality, while BRAVIA Theatre Sync offers easy one-button operation for enjoying a Sony A/V system. Add a sparkling new black picture frame design, quiet operation, and you have the new BRAVIA V-Series HDTV. Full HD 1080p Resolution When it comes to high-definition TV the pinnacle of performance is achieved by using 1920 x 1080 display panels. And BRAVIA V-Series televisions have them. Full HD 1920 x 1080 panel resolution with over 2 million pixels8 (more than twice that of 720p HDTV) is exactly what you need to reproduce the 1080p content that can be delivered by our cutting edge 1080p Blu-ray disc player. And working with BRAVIA Engine EX everything from standard definition and high definition is upconverted to 1080p6 for a picture so real it's like you're actually there. 10-bit Processing and 10-bit Display While it's great to state that a TV is capable of creating billions of colors it's a whole lot better when you have a display that can actually display them. That's the logic behind Sony's 10-bit processor and 10-bit display. Sony follows 10-bit processing with a 10-bit panel, allowing 64 times the levels of color expression than an 8-bit panel. What that translates to is smoother transitions from color to color and subtle color changes faithfully reproduced. BRAVIA Engine EX Full Digital Video Processor The BRAVIA Engine EX full digital video processing system is based on Sony's renowned BRAVIA Engine video processing system. It has all of the same functions of BRAVIA Engine plus the added ability to upconvert 480i standard definition signals via Digital Reality Creation Multi Function v1.0 technology for a picture with more detail and definition. Live Color Creation System featuring WCG-CCFL Decades of television know how allow us to realize that an LCD TV is more than just the panel; it’s actually a system. Uncompromised picture quality starts with combining carefully chosen components and circuits to optimize system quality, among these are the color creation and processing functions. That’s what Live Color Creation technology is all about. It starts with the BRAVIA Engine EX video processing system, which enhances primary colors and corrects half-tone colors for natural overall color. Next, a WCG-CCFL backlight using Sony’s phosphor formula delivers a specific spectrum of light designed to work with our specially formulated color filters. The combination of these three components creates deep, deep blues and natural greens for overall colors that draw you right into the picture. Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) Function Sony’s Advanced Contrast Enhancer (ACE) builds on our excellent on-contrast ratio performance of 1600:11. A Dynamic Contrast Ratio of up to 13,000:12 is achieved by using real-time image processing to adjust the contrast along with optimizing backlight levels. But rather than focus on the "numbers", Sony focuses on actual picture performance avoiding exaggerated blacks where detail can be lost. ACE translates to blacker blacks in darker scenes, as well as better shadow detail in other scenes for a difference that you can see. 24p True Cinema (24p Input Capability) Many movies are filmed at 24 frames per second (fps) and prime time TV programs are video taped at 24p. Seizing on an opportunity, some studios are taking a purist approach and encoding high definition video content such as Blu-ray Disc in 24p. Sonywisely takes advantage of this by including 24p output capability on their BDP-S1 Blu-ray Disc player. It makes sense that select 2007 BRAVIA TVs will include 24p input capability. The benefit? Images are smooth and natural looking. Once you experience 24p video it will be hard to view video without it. DMex - Ready (Digital Module Extender) Sony's Digital Media Extender (DMex) ready televisions offer a digital connection path for the addition of optional modules like the new BRAVIA Internet Video Link.7 With innovative DMex expansion capabilities featuring the Emmy award winning XMB user interface, select 2007 models are not merely TVs, but powerful entertainment platforms that not only meet your needs today, but expand easily to meet tomorrow's needs as well. Xross Media Bar (XMB) When was the last time you saw an on-screen display that was fast, fun and easy to use? Sony's award-winning Xross Media Bar (pronounced Cross) interface provides a logical and fast way to access set up menus, user controls, and more. The on-screen display comes to life by pushing the XMB menu button on the remote. Navigation through the menus is smooth and fast. BRAVIA Theatre Sync Sony created BRAVIA Theatre Sync to go beyond basic digital audio and video transmission. Based on the HDMI-CEC function. BRAVIA Theatre Sync will be included on select BRAVIA Theatre home A/V systems and components. This useful function reduces the hassle and time consuming job of powering up, routing signals, etc. to the simple push of one button. Sony calls this nifty feature BRAVIA Theatre Sync. Here's how it works. Want to play a DVD on your Sony A/V system? Easy, just push PLAY on the BRAVIA HDTV remote and everything is taken care of for you. Even when the system is off! Want to change from TV sound to digital surround sound through your Sony BRAVIA Theatre A/V system? Just one push of the Theater Sound button on the remote and voila, surround sound through your system. Want to power down everything once you've finished enjoying it? Push one button and the TV and A/V system powers down. BRAVIA Theatre Sync helps make things a whole lot easier to operate. S-Force Front Surround-2 Built around a sophisticated set of Sony algorithms, the S-Force Front Surround enhancement function generates realistic surround sound from the two speakers in the TV. Unlike some other "virtual surround" technologies, sound does not need to be bounced off of side walls or other surfaces to hear three-dimensional sound. No matter what the size or shape of the room it's possible to hear sounds from behind you. HDMI and PC Connectivity Designed for maximum versatility, Sony's BRAVIA V-Series LCD TVs are equipped with a comprehensive range of input interfaces. HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. HDMI technology supports enhanced or High Definition video, together with multi-channel digital audio to provide superb image and sound reproduction. BRAVIA V-Series TVs include (3) HDMI 1080/60p inputs. The PC input 4(HD-15-pin) offers easy connection to your PC, allowing you to use your high resolution BRAVIA V-Series Digital TV as a computer monitor. ATSC Integrated Tuner Receive local, over-the-air digital broadcasts of high-definition network programming; no set top box or monthly fee required. VESA-compatible Mounting Holes Free up space. As Always - SONY, No Baloney By James Cooper I've been buying Sony TVs for more than 30 years, and they rarely disappoint. The 40" Bravia is no exception. Last year I bought the 70" SXRD model for my living room, and the 40" is for the bedroom. Many televisions are high quality and prices are dropping, so why get the Sony? Picture quality is excellent, especially in high def. Sound quality is very good without a home theater setup. Not always the case with flat panel TVs with small bezels. Remote is well laid out and easy to use (although it does lack backlighting, but I have no trouble finding the buttons I want in the dark). It's easy to change between the 4 programmable picture settings or screen aspect ratios. Sleep timer button is right up on top when your ready for bed and is in 15 minute increments. It has 2 HDMI inputs for easy connection of compatible devices and several other inputs. You can customize the display to choose between only the inputs you are using and label them appropriately (so it's easy to switch between my TiVo, DVD player, TV and cable box, and hide the other inputs) There's a zillion other settings that I haven't figured out all of yet, but most are relatively intuitive (except PnP, which has me baffled so far). I got the flat panel LCD because it uses less power and generates less heat than a plasma, and won't burn-in (although plasmas have improved). The screen doesn't reflect as much, and has a wide viewing angle. For viewing from about 6 feet, the 40" size is perfect. Lots of other things I could say about this TV, but it's all good. You can't go wrong with this model. Also highly rated in Consumer Reports, the consumer's bible... Amazon shopping tip: Amazon offers price protection for 30 days from date of purchase. After you buy this, put it in your cart again and check your cart regularly for a month. The price goes up and down almost daily. When you go to your cart you will be notified of price changes. If it goes down, grab the phone and call for a credit. I paid $1630 a couple of weeks ago and the price has gone as low as $1450, so I've gotten $180 in refunds. Delivery and unpacking are free, and combine with excellent customer service, making buying from Amazon a no-brainer. I'm delighted with Sony and Amazon for this purchase. update 3/2009: Forget my last comment. Amazon no longer, sadly, offers 30 day price protection on purchases. Advice now is to go to camel camel camel dot com (leave out the spaces). A great site for tracking Amazon price history. 50 of 53 people found the following review helpful. Great TV By Carl Moore Very good picture quality, no glare problems and no discernible viewing angle problems. The Amazon price was several hundred dollars less than any other place I checked, ie Best Buy, Circuit City, Sears, Sony and even better than Army/Air Force Exchange service. The delivery was painless. The delivery compary called and made an appointment, delivered, unpacked, placed the unit where I wanted, helped with initial on screen setup and hauled the trash away. I recommend buying an extended warranty from Sony instead of the third party warranty available through Amazon. You have something like 30 days after purchase to get the warranty from Sony. All in all, a great TV and a great buying experince. 36 of 37 people found the following review helpful. Good value By J. Moore I've been really pleased with this HDTV. I had read that one of the weaknesses of LCD monitors is that they tend to blur fast moving images (like in action movies) so I held out for a model that had a 10 bit processor and 8ms response and I have yet to see any blurring in either movies or video games. Another complaint I've heard about LCD is that they have difficulty producing deep blacks. Again, this has not been the case with the KDL-40V3000. To get a picture I was really happy with took a little work with the

This comes in handy when you want to copy a recipe, phone number, etc. that flashes too quickly across your screen. Simply touch the "Freeze" button on the remote control and copy the details down at your convenience.

Nice TV, even if a bit pricey By T-Rev Never really concentrated to much on the sony products because of the prices of them. For the money, you can get a larger sized samsung like a 32", or for the same size TV you can save big bucks by going with a westinghouse or other bargain priced TV's sized at 26" which is ideal for a bedroom. After purchasing a 26" westinghouse and not being extremely happy I bought a 32" Vizio. Still not satisfied, I left the bargain TV basement and took the plunge and bought this TV. Wow, what a difference. At $300-$400 dollars more than the westy, I'm not sure if it's that much better if tied to a budget, but if you've got it (cash), get it (sony). As far as specs go, read the description, but rest assured this TV is really nice. Sound is better than expected for a 26", menus are nice, picture is B.A. On XBOX 360, the best and most graphically demanding game is by far Gears of War. This TV makes it look incredible. The darks are dark enough in the spooky parts unlike other TVs I've tried out which looked washed out and lame. This set really makes the whole thing look alot better. I have been switching between the 3 presets (vivid, cinema, standard) and haven't made any tweaks yet exept for turning on the dynamic lighting. I'm sure you could make the picture even better with some adjustments but it's unnecessary. 23 of 23 people found the following review helpful. great LCD TV By ALKJ I am very happy with the sony lcd tv. I narrowed down the 26" lcd tv's to a couple and checked them out at local stores. I liked the picture of the sony over samsung which was my 2nd choice. plus the sony did not have large speakers on the sides or bottom making it too large for the small opening in my entertainment center. the price was comparable and sony quality has always been good for me. 17 of 17 people found the following review helpful. Owned this for a week now. By Oh_Please This LCD is great, i was nervous because it is the first flat screen that the wife and I have ever bought. We set it up and it was a breeze, plugged our DVD player in and it also worked great. The picture quality with standard TV is very nice, but the HD picture quality is superb. I had to adjust the picture settings out of the box, but that is to be expected. Over all, I am very, very pleased with this product and Amazon's quick delivery. See all 53 customer reviews...

Currently the best 32" LCD for the price By Arm&Hammer Pros: - Best part of this TV is the Over the Air (OTA) tuner to get free public broadcast TV stations. Used a paper-clip as the antenna and received over a dozen HD/digital stations with perfect reception in the Washington DC metro area without any dropouts. No cable for me, literally. - Excellent picture, especially after playing around with all color options. The color can be adjusted to anyone's preference, because it has separate color adjustments for red, blue, green, yellow, magenta and cyan, as well as, preset adjustments. 1080p display is great for graphics or if using it with a computer. I starred at a lot of 720p displays before ordering this one, for me, I can see better detail (especially background and graphics) with a 1080p display from 8' away. - Comes on in 2.5 seconds. Try timing how long it takes to turn on any other manufacturer or previous model year TVs. Channel changes almost instantaneous about 1-2 sec, great for channel surfing. With OTA HD/digital stations this was a challenge for a lot of TVs. - Sound quality is very good and loud if you need it. At 20% it's loud enough to fill a medium sized room. - Low price. If you search enough you can get it at a lower price than last year's 720p models on clearance or refurbished. Cons: - Specs on this TV are not always accurate, different specs. on Toshiba's website vs. owner's manual vs. on the box. For example when I weight my 32RV530U it is 26.5 pounds, which is better for me. I wonder what other specs are off. - Some fuzzyness with fast moving objects, maybe due to refresh rate (5-8ms)or 10 bit panel or 12 or 14 bit processor (listed in owner's manual. Whatever the true specs are this TV looks great either way for TV watching or used as a computer monitor. 24 of 25 people found the following review helpful. Very Pleased By N. Kamal I received the TV 3 days after ordering it from Beach Audio via Amazon. Arrived safe and sound, no dead pixels either. So far I am very pleased with the set. It took about 10 minutes to set up. As others have discussed it is a great looking set. I was hesitant to buy a TV with that black piano finish, because originally I thought it to be a little tacky, trendy and cheap looking. But Toshiba made it look good! It's nowhere near as shiny as I thought it would be. Now for the picture. It arrived with the picture set to "Sports" mode. This was too bright and over saturated for my taste. I switched to "Standard" mode and the colors are richer without being overly warm or loosing crispness. The set has a picture mode for "Movies" as well, and it really does give the display a movie-theateresque character. As for SD display, Id rate it at about 8/10. A relative's 42" 1080p Sony Bravia XBR displays these channels the same as or a little worse than the 32rv530u. Comcast HD movies on demand look incredible through the Motorola SCH3200 box with HDMI output. Overall, for this price, this is likely the best 32"-- and besides the Sharp, the only-- 1080p LCD on the market. I am anxiously awaiting my PS3 so I can bask in the glory of a 1080p signal. 13 of 13 people found the following review helpful. Excellent Picture By Tweaker I've owned this set for several weeks now and am very impressed by the overall picture quality. The images are sharp, the blacks are reasonably deep, the colors are well balanced, and there is no backlight bleeding. I recommend turning down the backlight to 50 or less (mine is at 40) to get the best picture. Sound quality is only mediocre but I use mine with a 5.1 surround system, so that is not a problem for me. I don't know how this set compares to Sony or Samsung because those sets will not fit in my cabinet, the Toshiba does - which is another plus for people with tight spaces. BTW, the dimensions given on the US web site for the set are incorrect - they slightly overstate the
