Attractively designed and offering 720p high-definition viewing, the feature-packed, affordable 19-inch Toshiba 19CV100U LCD HDTV (18.5-inch diagonal screen size) is an all-in-one entertainment package that's great for any room in your house thanks to its integrated, side-loading standard DVD player. The Toshiba 19CV100U with slot-loading DVD player on the left side (see larger image). Perfect for use as your main television, the CV100U Series features Toshiba's DynaLight dynamic backlight control for deeper black levels, and two HDMI digital inputs for simple high quality connection to cable/satellite boxes, DVD players and more. It's also a great choice for kids and family rooms with the CV100U's Gaming Mode, which offers reduced game control delay and improved reaction time. And the Photo Frame capability with Auto Slide Show is especially useful in bedrooms, dens, and kitchens. Boasting a slimming tapered bezel and attractive front panel gradation, the new Horizon design creates a more modern, elegant appearance that also matches Toshiba's black glossy Horizon-designed laptops. Other features include MP3 playback via the integrated USB port, a PC input, and a removable stand. Key Features 720p HD resolution (1366 x 768 pixels) 60Hz screen refresh rate CineSpeed LCD panel with a fast response speed necessary for cleaner high-action home theater images. A wide viewing angle ensures that you'll have the best seat in the house. Integrated slot-loading DVD player on the side (compatible with standard DVD discs as well as content burned onto DVD-R/RW, Audio CD, CD-R/RW, and VCD media--including both MP3 and WMA digital audio files) DVD playback controls include digital picture zoom, fast scan, slow motion, and multi-camera angle selection. DynaLight Backlight Control utilizes advanced image processing to monitor the brightness of each video frame, and adjust the backlight intensity accordingly. This precision creates seamless transitions with deep blacks for increased detail and depth analysis. Photo Frame capability allows this HDTV to act as both a TV and a digital photo frame. You can showcase your favorite memories as a clear, crisp slide show on the high-resolution television screen--all controlled with just the TV remote. Gaming Mode takes the gaming experience to a new level by reducing game control delay, thus giving the player improved reaction time and a more realistic playing experience. This is great when used with popular gaming consoles, or with PC games using the TVs PC Input. Built-in ATSC/NTSC/QAM digital tuning allows for tuning of standard cable channels as well as off-air digital broadcasts, in addition to digital "cable-in-the-clear" broadcasts. Native Mode restores the size of the picture by the 3-5 percent that is generally lost during the normal over-scanning that occurs on traditional sets. The CV100U Series features a 720p HD resolution, stylish Horizon bezel design, and invisible bottom-mounted speakers (see larger image). Cinema Mode 24 fps (3:2 Pulldown): This HDTV performs 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal, too--a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. To adapt 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video, frames in the original movie must be duplicated; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this duplication by removing the redundant information to display a frame-accurate picture. Color Temperature Control enables you to adjust white balance to achieve the best television picture possible in any viewing environment, or simply adjust the picture to suit your personal tastes. The "Warm" setting delivers a redder image that is ideal for display in a dimly lit room, while "Medium" and "Cool" provide a progressively bluer image for the best picture as room light levels are increased. Three TheaterWide modes are ideal for displaying HDTV signals as well as enhanced for widescreen television DVDs. TheaterWide 1: Letterboxed image is digitally expanded 33 percent horizontally and vertically. Useful for reproducing Academy Standard (1.85:1) formatted software. TheaterWide 2: Letterboxed image is expanded 33 percent horizontally and 42 percent vertically. Particularly of use when viewing narrow letterboxed images originally filmed in Panavision or CinemaScope. TheaterWide 3: Letterboxed image is expanded 33 percent horizontally and 24 percent vertically. Can be utilized when displaying letterboxed images that incorporate narrow bands at the top and bottom of the picture. MP3 audio and JPEG image playback via USB port on the side. REGZA-LINK (HDMI-CEC) allows peripheral AV devices such as a DVD player to be controlled by the remote control. Bottom-mounted invisible speakers integrated into stylish Horizon bezel design (6 Watts total power; 3W + 3W). Channel Browser allows you to easily scan through the last 32 channels you have viewed, with screen images for the last five channels displayed, by channel, by favorites, and by input, at the touch of a button. Channel Labeling allows you to put station call letters on the screen along with the station numbers, so you always know what channel you're watching Input labeling enables you to name the individual inputs to denote usage, such as "DVD Player" (instead of having them display as just "HDMI 1" and "HDMI 2"). With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get. Minimum size = Viewing distance/3 Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

I wanted a 19 inch for ease of portability and the ability to take it on trips and to be used in different rooms as needed. Without getting technical, this unit seems to have a very sharp picture, great contrast and brightness, and a easy to use remote right out of the box. The DVD player seems to be high quality and is worth the $80 extra over a non-DVD model. I'm sure you will be glad you chose this TV...it's a jewel. 24 of 24 people found the following review helpful. Picture is fine but max volume is low By Michael Winters As an all in one LCD TV and DVD player with audio it costs little more than a similar size monitor. Easy to access the DVD slot and the controls even when it is mounted with a wall bracket (where it uses an industry standard bolt pattern and the base is easily removed). Menu for switching modes when stated up is more than a little confusing and if you cut power to the TV completely at the wall you have to re-input settings and source. I plug everything into power strips that have surge protection and turn the power off for electronic equipment not in use to save energy and protect the equipment for surges courtesy of my local power company. Sound is low for listening in anything but a quiet space and from 5-6 feet from the screen. Adding a separate sound system, even a cheap one, will make it a lot more pleasurable to use the Toshiba for watching movies on DVD's. 26 of 28 people found the following review helpful. CV faster tuner but LV506 has the better picture! By Alma I have an LV506 and a CV100, same size, 19.5" diagonal. The earlier model, the LV506, has a larger screen by 3/4" vertical measurement (same width). And the LV has a sharper picture. I have used both in the same location with the same hookup. The advantage on the newer CV is faster and easier channel changes with the remote: you don't have to press an extra button to go to digital signal-- it's automatic. The base is much wider on the CV, so the set is more stable. The CV has a more complicated set up menu, but it's usable. Toshiba customer service line is outstanding, so no problem setting up either one. See all 50 customer reviews...

Brightly colorful with easy adjustment controls for just the right viewing for your environment, the 19-inch Samsung SyncMaster 920NW LCD monitor is a great choice for adding more screen real estate to your computer's desktop. In addition to its widescreen resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels--offering native 720p high definition clarity--the 920NW has a blazing fast 5ms (millisecond) response time, perfect for playing immersive 3D games and watching action-packed movies without ghosting or pixelation. It connects to desktop and laptop PCs using a VGA/D-Sub port. The 920NW provides native 720p high-definition resolution (1440 x 900) and a fast 5ms response rate. This monitor's specs also include a 160-degree viewing angle (both horizontal and vertical), a high level of brightness with a 300 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) rating and a 700:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a monitor's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) The 920NW's 19-inch screen (measured diagonally) is framed by a narrow bezel, ensuring that this monitor won't overpower your desk with its size. The monitor sits atop a rounded base that can tilt forward and backward for just the right view. The back includes a power connector, VGA (15-pin D-Sub) connector, and lock connector (for optional Kensington locks to secure the monitor to your desk). This monitor is Energy Star qualified, with a 42 watt power consumption rating and less than 1 watt of consumption in stand-by mode. This monitor includes several Samsung technologies that enhance your viewing, including MagicColor, which improves and adjusts mid-level colors to shades the eye accepts as natural, and MagicBright, which creates an optimal viewing environment, based on the the image you're watching. It also includes the MagicTune monitor config application, which makes it simple and convenient to tweak your screen's settings. MagicTune By now, you've probably experienced the frustration of pushing buttons on the front of your monitor to access the variety of onscreen menus to adjust its settings. Samsung has now created a software application that's designed to optimize all monitor settings, and is equipped with an intuitive GUI (Graphic User Interface) which includes many more features. MagicTune employs an advanced display technology, called the DDC/CI (Display Data Channel Command Interface) protocol, to control all monitor settings. Colors on an LCD will adjust and will appear different to the average user when the system is changed, depending on the characteristics and performance settings of the system. MagicTune provides a Color Calibration feature that helps set the LCD monitor color to a default color standard. This feature simplifies the complex gamma correction process into a few simple steps, enabling you to enjoy the same optimized high quality color standard on every system. Most helpful customer reviews 11 of 12 people found the following review helpful. great quality for the price By J. Witmer I purchased this monitor in Sept. 2007 to replace a View Sonic monitor that faded on me within 14 months of purchase. I plugged this monitor into my computer, and it was ready to go. Talk about plug-and-play. I never even had to run the CD that came with it. The 19-inch widescreen makes for easy viewing on the eyes. The colors are crisp. I don't see any bleeding on the edges of the screen. I relied heavily on the opinions I read here on Amazon, and I was not disappointed. I highly recommend this item for both the quality and value. 16 of 19 people found the following review helpful. Stunning By John I just upgraded to a laptop and docking station at work with this monitor from a standard 17". The color and definition is simple stunning. Will be buying one for home as well. 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Very Poor Quality By Norman Metzger When I got this model, I thought there was something seriously wrong with it -- lack of clarity in the images, brightness and contrast poor even after much adjustment, etc. After several talks with Samsung support, I got a replacement. Same model and same problems. I believe that this is a low-end monitor, and it shows. No, it's not a problem with my video card, etc. I tried the monitors on another machine with excellent display on its own monitor. Same result -- very poor image and after awhile tired eyes and a headache. I'm sure -- or at least hope -- other Samsung models are better, but avoid this one. Most helpful customer reviews 52 of 54 people found the following review helpful. Excellent display - very sharp and perfectly smooth response By Paul Tinsley It isn't the design of this LCD that earns merit, although it is a rather timeless looking item and will look smart in any situation. It's the feature set, and there is certainly far more function over form than meets the casual eye! Pros: - Can be set to auto detect the exact input source resolution and display the image without any stretching. This is great if you play games that might need 1280 x 1024 or 1680 x 1050. Your treasured vintage game collection will still look splendid! - Has a great software tool that will set the correct color / contrast / brightness balance. Make sure you run MagicBright after installation - the image is stellar once you have this set. - Low power consumption - do your bit for Gaia ;-) - The memory resident tools do not task the CPU. - Tack sharp display with almost non-existant light bleed at the edges - Games look superb! - No dead pixels - Comfortable viewing size - I find larger displays somewhat taxing on the eyes - Has a great tool that can divide your display into various logical units - a bit mike having multiple displays - very cool as this makes apps snap into the regions just like extra displays - Amazing price - 2ms + 20,000:1 contrast ratio + Samsung quality + auto resolution detect + much more! Cons: - No height adjustment - but by no means a show-stopper when you bear in mind the spec. - Tilt only tilts away, not towards you. The assumption is that you will be looking down at the screen up to horizontal, which is ergonomically incorrect. The user should have the option to view at 90 degrees or above to avoid neck strain. I resolved this by buying a sturdy stand so I can have the mid-screen point at eye level ;-) - No frame color options - just translucent burgundy, which looks blackish most of the time in low light conditions. - Software installation is confusing. It recommends that you download the latest software. When you click the link, it's very unclear what you need to do. I couldn't see a option for the T220, so I just installed what was on the disk and everything ran fine. You must run the software installer using Internet Explorer, otherwise you need to manually run the install exe from the CD. 23 of 24 people found the following review helpful. Very Good Monitor By E. A. DiGiacomo The Samsung T-220 is a fantastic monitor, not only in design and curb-appeal but in performance. No matter what you use it for, the screen will be sharp and crystal clear for text, images, photos and background. I'm using the T-220 for a CCTV system with a DVR and the images from all 5 camera's are perfectly stunning. If your wondering then why I gave the T-220 4 stars instead of 5? It's because for some unknown reason Samsung decided not to make these T-220 monitor's VESA compliant (no mounting holes in rear of monitor) wall mountable. When I contacted Samsung their tech-rep admitted the T-220 were their newest monitor addition and could not understand why the T-220's were not designed to be wall mountable? This is the only flaw I could find, but it could be a major one if you want the monitor mounted on a wall. I had to return one monitor for this specific reason. If your not mounting your monitor to a wall, I would recommend the Samsung T220 to all, it's just a great product. 21 of 26 people found the following review helpful. BAD Backlight Bleed Problem By M. Dewey Purchased this monitor at Costco because of great reviews, and it looked great on display in the store. When I plugged it in at home it was immediately noticeable there was white light leaking onto the screen from the top & bottom edges. Tried to ignore it but after watching enough full-screen video it was driving me CRAZY! I took it back to Costco (where they treated me like I was nuts) & exchanged it for another one, which had the same problem but WORSE! On this one,

The larger size is much appreciated, but the quality of the picture is beyond any I've seen. We have had other LCD HDTV sets, but this one far exceeds the picture quality of our other sets. Easy to set up. I got a wall mount for this size set and the entire installation took just a few minutes. Highly recommended and worth the extra money. 84 of 90 people found the following review helpful. Best 26" LCD out there! By D.

I was looking in the sub $1000 range, wanted a 40-42" LED-Lit model and did a lot of research before settling on the Samsung UN40C6300. I originally settled for Samsung over LG due to in-store picture comparisons and quite frankly, Samsung's great reputation over the past years. They were the pioneers of LED edge lighting and for a long time remained king of HDTVs. When my set arrived via Amazon (which was super simple by the way) and I set it up, I was instantly shocked and disappointed. The samsung model had the worst backlight bleeding I have ever seen in any LCD TV/Monitor.. ever.. Upon researching the issue further I discovered that Samsung now outsources panels and I got stuck with a horrible Chineese CN02 panel while the model in the store happened to be using a Samsung Branded IPS panel. I can't say for sure whether stores always get the better panel for display purposes, but this sneaky bait and switch should be illegal. Needless to say, the viewing angles on the horrible CN02 panel and the awful bleeding (spots the size of softballs scattered through the image). Furious, I set up an immediate exchange with Amazon and went back to researching. Digging deep in Amazon's search, I stumbled across the LG 42LE5400 which was only $4 more then the previous Samsung model. What caught me about this TV over the previous was the following: 1) Same exact price. 2) Research indicated NO panel lottery and LG using superior IPS panels. 3) 2" Larger Screen 4) NetCast Apps (Samsung's only supplies these on higher-end models) 5) Wider range of inputs including composite-in 6) Matte screen (Yes glossy looks nicer, but I'd rather not watch TV in a mirror). The exchange through amazon was painless and I am always impressed by their policies and understanding. After the horrible Samsung model was dragged away and the new LG panel dropped off, I set it up and was pleased. The picture was just as nice as the Samsung in my opinion (though a bit less crisp due to matte screen instead of glossy, but that was to be expected and actually ended up being preferred due to lack of reflections). I confirmed a genuine IPS panel by the orientation of the pixels and the push-test. I cannot comment on the sound since I always use a home theater receiver and have never used the built-in speakers. The Set comes with tons of calibration options, eco-sensors (which I disabled as I found it preferred to darken the screen too much. Why have an LED screen when you dim it down to nothing). Even the lighting on the power and function buttons has a neat animation and full control of turning off pesky logo lighting when watching in the dark, a nice touch. The only gripes I have on this panel are the following: 1) There is some mild backlight bleeding around the top right and bottom left corner. This tends to make blacks in that general area a bit more grey, but nowhere (and I mean nowhere) as bad as the Samsung. I suppose this is just a limitation of Edge-lit panels. 2) NetCast does NOT include Pandora even though it lists Pandora all over LGs website. I suppose they only include that in their receivers/blu-ray players, a major disappointment. Should be called "NetCast Lite". I really rate this panel a 4.5/5 due to the mild backlight bleeding. I feel more care should be put by all brands regarding this issue, but this panel was much better then others thus why I'm keeping it. I'm also a bit put off by the differences in NetCast. Other then that, I'm glad that I finally have this whole fiasco behind me. LG came out of the woodwork for me and blew me away with a far-superior television then the comparable Samsung model with no surprises, tricks and included many extras for the same price range. Unless something goes wrong (or they start getting sneaky with bait-and-switch like

Prather The dirty little secret when buying consumer electronics is to not buy them when they first come out, because there are bound to be bugs and defects among the first units manufactured. The manufacture is bound to discover these problems, make the necessary correction(s), and the subsequent lots should not have the same issues. This Vizio model is no exception. I too have had the audio problem, where the audio distorts after a set amount of time. When I went to exchange it, I made sure the replacement was from a different lot than the first, that way I am bound to get a unit that shouldn't have the same problems as what I had before. My new unit works perfectly. For reference my first unit was made on 11/09 and my new unit was made 02/10. Vizio has also made several firmware updates between the two sets I tried out. The first TV had version 2.06 and the second 2.13. I have no idea what improvements were made, but it could relate to the audio problem. What I like about this TV is that since it has a glass panel, the image resembles what a HD CRT would produce. It really smooths out the picture and gives a better image quality that a matte finished LCD panel can't deliver. A typical LCD TV can produce a sharp picture, but at the same time it looks a little hazy to me. You certainly can't get a glossy panel for a TV of that size anywhere that I know of. If you like the look that a CRT TV or a plasma gives you will probably like this TV. I am also surprised that Vizio was able to deliver a LED TV at this price point. I also really like the styling of this TV. It has the appearance of a high-end TV, something like what Bang & Olafson would produce. An the fancy touch panel controls are a nice touch. I would like to purchase a 27" or 32" of this same style of set, but unfortunately Vizio only makes this style in in 19" & 23". The sound, if you get a properly working unit, is quite good. It looks to me Vizio put a smaller version of their HD sound bar into this set, because the SRS Surround technology really expands the sound coming from the TV. I didn't find the sound to be "tinny" at all. As others had reported the sound quickly goes from silent to loud. The remote control only has one IR emitter on it, so if you are fairly close to the TV you need to point it toward the IR receiver to work properly. If you stand back a few feet, then you should have less problems. You best bet is to use a universal remote control (like the one provided by your satellite of cable provider), because many of them have at least 2 IR emitters giving you a wider range for transmission. This TV also features a light sensor that can automatically adjust the picture in relation to the light in the room. Be aware you can't use this feature at the same time as the 20,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio feature. For me the dynamic contrast ratio feature works better for me. For some reason Vizio doesn't advertise the fact that you have the ability to pause live TV (like a DVR), if you plug in a flash drive on the back of the TV. This TV also can play a play a slide-show of pictures on a flash drive. For those that already own this TV and are unhappy with it, I would encourage you to exchange it at the store of purchase or have Vizio replace it. No one should have to live with the defect(s) if Vizio corrected it in later runs. **UPDATE: I have seen that several other retail outlets are no longer carry this product, it appears it is being replaced by a more conventional design, that lacks the glossy screen. If you are interested in this product, be sure to get it as soon as soon as possible. **UPDATE 2: Vizio as released a firmware update for this product (version 2.23), if you are having problems with this prodcut, be sure to download it. It may correct your issue. 88 of 94 people found the following review helpful. Vizio

Resolution+ uses complex image correction to enhance the detail of each image, making everything feel like HD. ClearFrame 120 doubles the frame rate of standard LCD TV, providing crisp and clear imagery regardless of image motion. 1080p HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) PixelPure 5G 14-bit internal digital video processor increases gradation levels (4,096 levels, or 16x that of a standard 8-bit processor) to create smoother, clearer images. ClearFrame 120Hz screen refresh rate virtually eliminates motion blur, making this HDTV a great choice for fast action movies and sports. Toshiba's ClearFrame 120Hz system doubles the frame rate of an LCD TV from 60 frames per second to 120 frames per second using superior Motion Vector Frame Interpolation technology. Resolution+ super resolution technology upconverts and enhances 480i/p and 720p input signals for a more detailed picture. CrystalCoat prevents ambient room light reflections from washing out the television picture, creating up to 30 percent better contrast in bright rooms and allowing you to enjoy a deep, high contrast picture in all lighting conditions. AutoView helps ensure an ideal image at all times for the day by combining an ambient room light sensor with incoming video content monitoring. AutoView automatically sets most of the TV picture parameters for you. MP3 audio and JPEG image playback via 2 USB ports or SD memory card slot REGZA-LINK (HDMI-CEC) allows peripheral AV devices such as a DVD player to be controlled by the remote control. InstaPort fast HDMI switching between A/V components: Typically, when you switch HDMI inputs, there can be a five or six second delay. With InstaPort, as soon as you select an HDMI source, it will connect in a fraction of the time. Ethernet port for connecting to wired home network. Bottom-mounted invisible speakers integrated into stylish Horizon bezel design (20 Watts total power; 10W + 10W).

By Bee I was a little leary of buying this because of other reviews on the net, from professional critics. However, none of them hold water. This is a fantastic HDTV, and the extra features with internet access make it perfect (pandora radio, even youtube). The picture is excellent from any angle, multiple inputs allow connections from any source. One thing that isn't mentioned is that the set will turn itself off after four hours if there's no input, that is set as a default. It was purchased for my elderly mom, and she loves it. Oh, and it's only a couple inches thick, and so protrudes from the wall even less than a picture frame! 53 of 57 people found the following review helpful. Not what I expected By MATAMAN I went throug 2 of these TVs and was dissapointed with both. The biggest issue for me was the flashlighting on all the corners especially the upper right. They were so bright that they dominated the screen. Dark room viewing was not possible with this tv because the bright spots would show up even more. I had the tv calibrated but it didn't really help with the flashlighting. I will post pictures to show the bright spots that I am talking about. The overall picture is above average from straight on. Get about 20 degrees off center and you will see the picture start to look washed out. Go a little farther and the colors start to look weird. Another thing to watch out for is the screen coating. It does a good job reducing reflections but if any light hits it directly you will see a rainbow full on all the way across the screen. I bought black out curtains to take care of this but that just intensified the bright spots in the corners. I just couldn't win. I own a TOSHIBA 52XV645U and love it. I prefer that tv over this LED TV. I even own a TOSHIBA laptop so I am not a TOSHIBA hater. 29 of 31 people found the following review helpful. Really impressed with this tv By Steve C This tv has a great picture and lots of good features. Picture has many user settings for fine-tuning and calibrating (expert modes). Apps like vudu, etc are fast and helpful. Thin profile and lightweight are nice attractions. Couple of my concerns before viewing were the 120hz and the glossy screen (glare). I've watched football, baseball, basketball and haven't noticed any blurring at all. The screen does have some reflection but once the set is on you cannot see it at all. Picture is very bright and dynamic. Incredible blacks for an edge-lit. This picture and price would rival or beat any plasma or samsung. Also very energy efficient. Great tv. Liao Good: no dead pixels Bad: * the same resolution (1680 x 1050) is shared by 19", 20" and 22" LCD panel. You can imagine the grainy display for your photos. Dot Pitch of 0.282 mm is really stretching the limit. To get some sense of the dot pitch: I have a 15" LCD with pitch size 0.25 mm, and a 17" LCD of size 0.264 mm. So don't be fooled by the size of LCD monitors!! * Another big problem: some areas are always biased to red, especially for some human faces in photos. Tweak any configuration will not result in a satisfactory result. So bring your favorite family photos when testing your next monitor purchase. Human eyes are very sensitive to colors of faces and cannot be easily fooled. Totally disappointed with 22", I am returning it and get a 19" on which I can at least enjoy my photos. ------update after one week's research------------ It is sad to know that almost all 22" LCD monitors use TN (twisted nematic) panels. These are only capable of 6-bit color and 262,144 colors. The acclaimed 16.7 million colors are approximated. If you see a monitor advertised with 2 or 5 ms response time, 90% chances are it is based on TN panel. There are two other better choices, depending on your requirements to color accuracy and response time: S-IPS (super in-plane switching) and S-PVA (super patterned vertical alignment). Some third-party reviewers confirmed my complain: trustedreviews dot com says "some serious image quality issues. Unfortunately, there's more bad news to come, with the W2252TQ clearly struggling in our DisplayMate tests. Viewing angles are particularly poor due to severe colour and contrast shift. It also failed to distinguish subtle colour gradients, and produced really pronounced banding in both colour and greyscale. There's colour contamination over blacks and whites, and a noticeable amount of backlight bleed from both the top and bottom of the display" Further information for people who want to be informed consumers. google "anandtech the LCD thread" to find more in-depth discussion and recommendation for you monitor purchase. check tftcentral dot co dot uk for the panels used by major monitors. Bottom line: You get what you pay. There is a reason for the high cost (~$400) of Dell UltraSharp 2007FP or HP LP2065, even they are *only * 20"! 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Simply Stunning! By D. Cloud I was on the fence about buying this monitor, because I'd never owned one before and I was leaning more toward an HP. But then my niece is always bragging about her LG and so it seems is everyone else and then I called Best Buy and the computer guy there told me that LG monitors were the best for graphic designers. So I went there to check them out and instantly fell in love. The clerk also informed me that the reason LG monitors are so highly rated is because the company mainly makes displays. He was kind enough to hook it up to a computer so I could check out how Windows looked on it and after that I was sold. I took it home and hooked it up to my computer and was totally blown away. The display is simply stunning and the screen real estate alone was worth the price. Plus it easily outclasses every other electronic product in my home. The settings and forteManager (a program on the enclosed CD) are extremely easy and a blast to use. I was so used to having to scroll right and left or not being able to see everything on a web page with my old monitor that now it is taking me some time to adjust. The colors, contrast, and text are awesome - even right out of the box with no adjustments. Plus this LG display has a 10,000:1 digital fine contrast that has to be seen to be believed. If you're on the fence like I was then get off and go buy this monitor! Update: It is now been over three years and I am still using this monitor! I know there are many newer models around,

Very Good Picture Quality, Inferior Tuner Sensitivity By Jerry Lundegarde I live in a "fringe" area for OTA reception in a densely wooded neighborhood 30 miles from the cities and have a rooftop antenna with a pre-amplifier system. I currently own Hitachi, Sony and Olevia TVs with built in ATSC tuners and find the Toshiba 19AV500U has the most trouble maintaining good reception from several of the HD channels. I've tried hooking it up to the other antenna leads in the house and results were the same so I've concluded the tuner sensitivity is not as good as my other TVs. However, when locked-in to an HD channel the picture quality is excellent. The Toshiba is very attractive with the piano black bezel and adjustable stand. The interface is simple and intuitive, setup was a breeze. I found the "DynaLight" feature annoying as it seems to randomly change the overall brightness ever so slightly too often. At first I thought there was something wrong with the backlight because of this "flickering" effect. I discovered that DynaLight is enabled by default. When I turned it off in the Advanced Video menu the problem was resolved. Overall this is a very good budget priced LCD HDTV from one of the best names in the business. This is a darned tootin' fine TV. 56 of 58 people found the following review helpful. Answer to 16:10 Aspect Ratio Controversy By T. Burton All 19 inch HDTV's regardless of brand have a 16:10 aspect ratio. This is because 19 inch computer monitors are 16:10 and they out number televisions by the billions. To keep the cost down TV makers buy the same LCD panels made for computer monitors. Unless you would pay $1000 for a 19 inch set, I doubt any company will ever custom order a 16:9 panel for television manufacture. A lot of these TV's can be set to 16:9. There will be a small black bar on the right and left edges since the panel is wider. But a lot of people hate the black bar, so there you go.. The reviewer here who was returning the TV because of this "defect" will be sadly disapointed when he buys a new 19 inch set and discovers it is also 16:10 35 of 35 people found the following review helpful. Works on my cable without a box! By W. Bilofsky I ordered this TV to take advantage of the HDTV channels available over Comcast Cable in the San Francisco Bay area, without having to rent Comcast's pricey cable box. It fills the bill perfectly. Using the default settings, the picture is sharp and contrasty. There's plenty of sound volume. The screen hardly reflects light at all, which is nice since we have a lot of windows. The Natural picture size setting chooses the proper picture width all the time. (I've never figured out why some people view everything in full width, even if it adds 50 pounds to all the people on the screen.) I got a scare when first hooking it up. I ordered it only after a Comcast agent verified that with the built-in QAM tuner it would receive HDTV just by plugging the cable signal into the antenna/cable coax jack. But when first turned on, it only received analog signals. Calling Comcast back, I was told that I would need a $7/month cable box. Fortunately this turned out to be baloney. While my wife was channel-flipping, she started getting HDTV stations too, and now it shows every analog and digital channel, even on my non-digital cable service plan. My wife claims full credit for "fixing" it. I suspect it took a while to lock into some aspect of the cable service. Who knows. So here's two recommendations: Double check everything Comcast tells you. And buy this TV. (Oh - and also see the reviews for the 19AV500U - it's the identical model in black.) Big screen, if you do not need a wide viewing angle of JG I wanted a large screen to use for my computer and initially bought a Panasonic TC-L32S1 32-inch IPS LCD TV for this purpose on recommendations on Web -based. The TV was too big to properly read documents and surf the Internet, regardless of how much fun it would be to use for games. The pixel pitch is very important, and sits at a distance of 3 m from a 32-inch TV is not working, as the pixels seem so big. I wanted to find a better solution, which was a bit smaller and this 27-inch screen looks the perfect size. I sit about 2 feet, and although it is considerably less than the 32-inch TV, it still feels much larger than the 23 inch Samsung monitor I also own. I now have with this monitor for a week and noticed the following: native resolution is not too small for this size of screen. Some people complain that 1920 x 1080 is too little of a resolution of just over 23/24 inch monitor also use a laptop with a screen 17 inches with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and the text may seem very small, due to low pixel pitch. After using this 27-inch pixel size much larger the monitor, I can tell you if you sit a normal distance from the monitor, you will not "see each pixel" because of its larger size. The text is big and strong but lacks details. Of course, if you are very close to the screen you can see every pixel, but the monitor is intended to sit two feet away from you or more. At this distance, the resolution of 1920 x 1080 is more than adequate for this size of a monitor. The glossy finish on the monitor screen makes the colors pop a lot, but can be annoying if you have windows or lights behind you. I wanted a screen clear, because I have no problem with the reflexes of a bright screen, and prefer the glossy screens that pop to give color to direct sunlight hitting the screen on the side is a big problem, because the anti-reflective work very well. However, the screen is still very reflective of things behind you. The brightness of the monitor should be set to half the default, which glare out of the box. Response times are not the best monitor I've ever seen (even if they are 2.5 ms), but still pretty. The low response times can only be achieved by connecting the "Overdrive Video" option, which is off by default. I saw it and the motion blur slightly lower on some tests of the movement. It's good enough to play games like first person shooters, but not the best performer I've seen in this section. The black level produced by the screen is very dark, but the perceived contrast is caused by the appearance of color images makes it a very pleasant setting screen brightness seems to change only the strength of the backlight instead of the image brightness, so matter what you use the settings for brightness Black levels remain fairly consistent. The dynamic contrast ratio setting works very well compared to other televisions and monitors, I owned. It is very slow and gradual adjustment of the backlight depending on the scene instead of rapid development as the old TV does. This makes it much more seam-less transition, like the eye would behave when you switch from a lot of light in a darker place. I was on for a while ', but decided to leave it off completely, because the screen returns to his dazzling backlit setting bright scenes, and it hurts the eyes at night. Like other monitors, it has pre-exisinting "Text" and "Movie" These settings seem to just change the brightness and contrast. I decided to leave the mine to "Custom" and use the brightness and contrast to 50 to 80. Setting the High Contrast cause any white crush (not all.

Good screen, but needs tweaking with Maestro Advantages: Build Quality Low power slim sturdy aluminum base to mount very easy to self-backlit, very little bleeding (if any) Bright no bad pixels, 2 HDMI inputs Small power adapter with a HDMI cable inputs are at the bottom Disadvantages: last menu controls some time to get off-center installation uses a small deflection has only one speaker (non-issue for myself - not even listen to them) I find the Acer software tools to fine -tune the colors and so ... strangely took a lot of time, resources and patience to Usual defects TN panels, which calibrates I do not rehash No direct input buttons to dive into menus to switch the input indicated 68% color gamut have input in the base shipping packages I had this concern is my first LCD home and replaced a 17-inch CRT, I still have it and have two monitors to compare them side by side. Also I have not had a chance every game yet, but if there is nothing unusual, I'm an update I'm still fine-tuning post, because I started the calibration of my old card (Nvidia 6800 GS on analogue) and then got a new card (AMD 5870 via HDMI), but it's basically what I experienced: I can not find the light distracting, very simple and effective, almost elegant. Entries - you either love or hate the place (they are the foundation outwards, not down), but I bought a mono Price Save HDMI connection. It is essentially an adapter worked perfectly 90 degrees for this configuration entry. I make the display to promote as far as possible without worrying about bending the cable. The power supply is very low, which is nice. You really took some time to discover this monitor look its best. Out of the box with the colors appeared a bit washed out. So I first calibrated by the eye then uses video discs calibration and color filters to only display controls make it look good at first, I adjusted the RGB levels of the "user" for the color temperature, but actually prefer the warm (D6500) after I set them AB, whites looked more white. (I think this monitor D6500 setup is correct, but I'm not sure.) I then used a combination of the AMD Catalyst controls (aside, Nvidia software is better), Acer software, tools and even some Windows 7 . Try to get the range right first and then adjust from there. Rinse and repeat. For me the brightness and contrast on the screen did not have much effect as they do on my other screens (HD or otherwise), perhaps because the white LED backlight? After all, I think the screen looks good. My first observation of the washed out colors to see when I connected with right-out-of-the-box settings were gone. I used a pair of BluRays to check the colors etc and everything seemed fine. I think the key is to adjust as much as you can use the monitor controls (or not and just use the settings of 50% or default settings) and adjust using software. I seemed to have better results with software-based adjustments. It is not "perfect", since I'm not a professional calibrator and therefore can not test it with a colorimeter, etc., but it looks good to me. Other calibration with better skills can have a different opinion to YMMV. But all things considered I like this monitor. Other things: preset modes (standard, text, film, etc.) just pump the contrast and saturation in varying degrees. Some may find them effective, but I'd probably never use them. Not sure if the lower than average range of color is apparent to me, I guess I'll know when I AB with my CRT, not really doing any photo "serious" / video editing so that the can not matter. When hooking up via HDMI, my desktop was too large (icons off the screen, etc). I finally figured out that AMD software allows for multiple color space settings with this monitor (I saw four choices). I.
