The Samsung 906BW 19-Inch Digital/Analog Widescreen LCD Monitor offers razor-sharp, widescreen image clarity and a host of innovative features. The image quality of the 19-inch widescreen offers wide viewing angles with bright colors for a very favorable viewing experience. With a wider viewing angle (160-degree vertical and horizontal viewing angle) Samsung makes sure you can see objects on your screen even when you're leaning over to grab a snack. With 16.7 million colors bombarding your rods and cones, you'll be impressed with the clearer, brighter imagery that this wide spectrum monitor has to offer. Another impressive feature of the 906BW is the pixel pitch, or the distance between pixels. This specification is usually measured in millimeters, and the smaller the pitch the sharper the image. Samsung offers a remarkable 0.285-millimeter pixel pitch for outstanding image clarity. The most talked about spec associated with LCD monitors is the measure of the difference of brightness levels between the brightest white and the darkest dark--the contrast ratio. With a contrast ration of 2000:1, this monitor assures crisp, easy-to-view images. Lastly, Samsung has designed this monitor with MagicColor to improve hue and saturation of colors. This function also adjusts mid-level colors to shades that the human eye accepts as natural. By enhancing the contrast ratio with MagicColor, fresh images with exceptional clarity spring to life, even on a darker screen. Connectivity is also important when choosing a monitor. The 906BW features an advanced dual interface that is capable of handling both analog video signals for present use, and digital video signals for the future. Whatever the signal sources are, this monitor will process those signals to give you an optimal viewing experience. In addition, this monitor features a standard D-Sub 15-pin connection and a fast DVI-D connection for your high-resolution demands. Other features include compatibility with all major operating systems (including Microsoft Vista's Premium standards) and an ultra-fast 2ms response time that virtually eliminates the "blur" that is present in 25, 16, and 12ms monitors (this is especially good news for gamers). Plus, with Samsung you have Magic Technologies, such asMagicBright3 and MagicTune, right at your fingertips. MagicBright3 is a new feature that provides the best viewing environment depending on the contents of the image you are watching, and MagicTune is Samsung's OSD (On-Screen Display) solution that provides a simple, convenient adjustment to the best image quality. The 906BW is designed to meet VESA standards to accommodate any display type. This monitor is both wall and arm mountable, so it fits almost any environment on your desk or the wall.

I have a P4 3.0 GHz PC with 1G of RAM with the onboard S3 Savage Pro video card, and I'm running Windows XP Home Edition and Xubuntu Linux. This is trully a great product. What comes is the package: - Monitor - Base (very easy to set). The monitor is VESA compatible, so you can mount it on the wall if you want. - VGA D-Sub 15-pin cable (NO DVI cable) - Driver CD - Power cord I like: - Super design: simple and does not take much space on my desk. - Glossy screen: as good as my MacBook screen. - Image quality: simply the best I've ever seen. Very bright and sharp. With Magic Bright gives Magic Color Technology allows you to monitor exactly how you want. - Windows Vista certified. Working out of the box. What you should know: The CD autorun does not work. Instead of launching your browser with the documentation you need to explore the CD, go into the driver folder and run setup.exe This screen will not work at full capacity if your video card does not support widescreen mode. I tried to get my onboard graphics card, but I could only 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024, none of these are 16:10 aspect ratio. As a result, the image is scaled to the screen aspect ratio and image quality will not. The Brightness / Contrast is totally off (too bright). Luckily I found an old NVIDIA AGP card (I think a TNT2). After setting it up, I got to see the picture properly and with correct settings. In Linux provides generic driver only 800x600, which does not match the aspect ratio of the monitor. I have not done much research, but I think that downloading a newer NVIDIA driver for Linux (from www.nvidia.com) would solve the problem. Last thing: No drivers on the site for the Samsung 906BW, but you can download one for the 931BW, which is compatible. And there are no drivers available for Linux. Overall I am very satisfied with this product. 12 of 12 people found the following review helpful. A no brainer if you want a 19 "wide by Miss C Originally I bought this monitor in 1440 x 900, because it was the highest resolution that my video adapter. However, when I plugged the 906BW in my computer, killed a number of new resolutions appeared, including x 1680 1050 required for 20 "widescreen. Finally I back this monitor 20 "HP W2007. There is enough difference in screen space between 19" and 20 "and 20" screens have a smaller dot pitch and high resolution. But if you are absolutely sure that you have a 19 "you can not go wrong with the 906BW. Text was crisp, bright colors and I found the OSD setting. I also liked the wide range of display options offered by MagicColor and MagicBright3 Some settings were very bright and almost cartoon like, which unfortunately washed out the lighter, pastel colors. (It is not just a problem of Samsung is also the case with my CV, and probably much more LCD screens.) In most cases you can reduce the brightness, the change of a point differently, or turn off, MagicColor completely. I had no pixel errors, and did not notice the backlight bleeding. I squirrel behavior when I use the DVI port, but could not detect the monitor to run the digital signal, so I started with the VGA cable and then plug the DVI cable. Then he would lose the signal after falling asleep, so I can not wake up the monitor. This will be a problem with some ATI graphics cards (I have a Radeon X300) collected when you visit the site of AMD. Currently there is no solution (except with VGA only) so be warned. Under the VGA connection, text on the 906BW looked a little fuzzy, with the DVI connection, it was clean also the contrast ratio is 2000:1 dynamic contrast, which is one.
